So I finally saw Remember Me (2010). It completely sucked.

Alright, not completely.

Robert Pattinson can actually act. Like really act well. Who knew?

But the whole 9/11 thing? Really? Too soon.

No, it’s not too soon to talk about 9/11 or deal with it as a pieece of world history, but this movie is not about the events that took place on September 11th, 2001. This movie is about loss, and grieving, and familial and friendly and romantic relationships. In this movie, 9/11 is used as a tool to kill its main character (which I don’t even think needed to happen). Any other other fatality would have created the same meodramatic affect. Cancer, car accident, murder, or suicide (though admittedly the latter two were a bit played out by the end of the movie) all would have been a better ending to the film. It was just a bit contrived is all, especially after all of the “rah rah New York City” bullshit at the beginning of the movie.

Don’t get me wrong. I love New York city.

My point is, it was unnecessary. And out of the blue. And it killed what could have been a touching, challenging, well-acted (for the most part) slice of life of a motion picture.

Another fail from Summit Entertainment. Who’s surprised?
