I’ve become one of those snooty asshole thespians.

Things that happened yesterday:

I indulged in a pretentious conversation about Robert Lepage after interrupting to correct the pronounciation of his name.

I suggested to my roommates, “hey, we should get really inebriated and do a three-person staged reading of Hamlet.”

Immediately following this suggestion I recited the first twenty lines of Hamlet’s famous soliloquy.

I then gave a lengthy speech about the flawed ways in which Shakespearean drama is represented in English literature classes. It is not prose. It is not meant to be read. Colons and semi-colons are not incorrectly used because Shakespeare was an idiot; colons are usead to suggest a logical response and semi-colons are used to imply an emotional response. Spelling in the first folio was not wrong, it was indicative of a words meaning and emphasis. God.
