Don’t see Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close if:

 - you didn’t read the book

- you want it to be like the book

- The Renter’s story was your favourite part of the book

- you’re wearing mascara

- you aren’t ready to handle an extremely abrupt and incredibly heartbreaking account of 9/11

- you are under the impression that it’s deserving of it’s Best Picture nomination

Don’t get me wrong, it was wonderful, and I thought that the book to film adaptation was very interesting— not at all what I would have done, but it was interesting, but it just wasn’t quite what an Academy Award winning picture should be. It wasn’t multifasceted like it could have been. It was singular, and without layers. I enjoyed (or at least was emotional engaged) for every minute of the film, but it was just missing too much to be considered for an Oscar.
